NHL Streaming Issue is My Fault?
Tweet Posted by Mother Pucker on February 25th, 2009Dear everyone that has tried to blame me for the lack of NHL streaming, or of certain websites being shut down etc,
This isn’t my fault. I’m a hockey fan that wanted to spread the word about the free streams and everything else hockey, and now I’ve become the scapegoat for some? Gimmie a break!
It’s not like I was the one providing the content, and then decided to pull it out from underneath you for no reason. All I did was simply link to said website and then when the NHL told me to quit it, I did.
Now some people are saying that because I linked to said website, and maybe made it a little too popular that I’m to blame for all of this? Hardly… I was one of the last to jump on the bandwagon with linking to that website / games, so maybe look somewhere else first. I initially found them mentioned in a forum that only deals with streaming web content, and funny enough after visiting that site today I found a comment that says, “ATDHE Streams ARE NOT ALLOWED to be POSTED or DISCUSSED”
So you still think that it’s my fault that said website has now removed their NHL content? Like I said in a comment on the original post, this was inevitable so just be glad we got to watch more hockey than ever before at the start of this season, and stop blaming me. It’s a casualty of the Internet and that site’s popularity alone.
Maybe now it’s time for some of you to sign up for NHL GameCenter?

NOT your fault at all, man. If people blame you for this, they can shove it. That’s absolute crap. You didn’t provide the content. Like i commented a while ago, a bunch of us can’t afford the out-of-town games. We use stuff like that. Trying to spread the word is helping out. Definitely not your fault.
=D
Haha this is hilarious. Anybody who blames motherpucker does not “get” the internets
Time to move out of the US, or get your content hosted where DMCA doesn’t not apply. There are many countries.
And the NHL wonders why people think of hockey as an elitist sport. You can’t watch regular games on network TV, if you don’t have cable you are screwed, if you can’t afford NHL Game Center, you are screwed.
The NHL should be doing everything possible to promote the sport and access to it. Can’t wait till Bettman gets the boot because all he has done is sheltered our sport. I mean come on, the All-Star Game on Versus on Cable?!?!?!
And for those of you blaming Motherpucker, get a life!
You’re not the only reason, but you’re one of the reasons, likely one of the bigger ones.
So does this mean that atdhe.net will stop streaming NHL games too?
It was your fault.
Got any proof?
mother pucker….it is actually your fault.
the website/forum you mentioned was doing a fine job of discretely posting links.
did you feel like you had to steal the spotlight from them to get more traffic to your website?
like you, i am a huge hockey fan. but i only told my friends, in person, about the now defunct not showing NHL games website.
you are a greedy bastard who have ruined a great thing.
If I was such a problem, why did whoever ran that site not contact me to tell me to stop promoting their site? Or better yet, when I emailed them asking if it was an issue to link to them how come they didn’t come back and say “actually it is an issue…” ?
Oh well, this can go back and forth forever I imagine. Does it suck? Yes! Anything we can do about it now other than try and throw the blame around? Doesn’t look like it.
you are correct. we just need to be smarter and less discrete about how we stream games. like a website that prompts a username/password before entering the site with content that wouldnt be accessed by googling “free nhl hockey”. and it would be spread by word of mouth and private messages in forums, not by posting the links to the general public….just a thought.
i apologize for laying the blame entirely on you. it wasnt just you, just websites like this that can be found by googling “free nhl streams”, you happening to be one of them.
Perhaps it wasnt your “fault” per se, but the fact that you tried to snake the viewers for your own gain is the problem. While many of us spent months watching free hockey, you tried to get people to come to watch that hockey through *your* site, with moronic banner headlines that were bound to create a fuss: Hey NHL, I’m a dumbass mooch, offering to skim the traffic from a free NHL feed!!! therefore creaming the ad increase from your traffic. So basically your selfish bs burned it for the rest of us. You couldn’t just shut up and watch? You had to try to use it for your own promotion? I do blame you. You suck. And you made money off it before you crashed you; you suck double. Get your own content. Leech.
don’t get me wrong, we all figured it wouldn’t last – the real grinch in all this the NHLE and the wider sports-industrial complex and its greed. the NHL has blown just about every oportunity it could in regaining the loyalty of true fans, while on the other hand exploiting every chance to alienate the newcomer. cutting off this feed does both, and more.
But still, to say it was bound to end and it’s not your fault for undoubtedly hastening the process is weak. Look at this bs on your site: “Mother Pucker Hockey now provides you with free streaming NHL hockey games, right on your computer! Be sure to bookmark this page and come back daily!” – why bother going through your site, why not just give us the link? you don’t “provide” a thing, you simply try to increase your viewership while sending google bots haywire over the keywords. it’s like launching napster with the subheading: FREE, STOLEN SONY, UNIVERSAL, MAJOR LABEL RECORDS FREE!, TOTALLY FREE!
And you did that while selling NHL.com ads, which no doubt became more lucrative with your traffic increase, no?
Bashing your readers, way to increase traffic on your site. My last visit.
I’m not bashing… just saying stop complaining and don’t blame me.
And it is your fault, all your fault. I hope you find a way to sleep at night, you Mother Pucking a-hole
He’s not missing any games, I’m sure the Douche Nozzle has got himself the NHL Network as well as Center Ice.
You can blame the Global economic crisis, middle east conflicts and the Miley Cyrus phenomenon on Mother Pucker…..but you can’t blame MP for this!
I’ve been downloading and streaming content for the better part of 9 years and all good things (free) come to an end. It was just a matter of time. Another site will open up and get shut down, then another and another.
I’m actually surprised the NHL did this, hockey is rising in popularity again and now is the time to distribute their product any way possible. I’m interested in other markets and teams, but not so much as to pay for them……yet. BIG mistake NHL, big mistake.
It’s obvious he did it to get more hits to his website aka more cash, but what did you expect? This is the real world, I’m sure anyone of you in the same position would have done the same thing. Stop being so hypocritical and acting like you’re all saints. Yes, he might be an inconsiderate greedy mofo but that’s life!
Forget you dude. It’s the wide world web!! It took me an hour but I just found another site. Thank god for people with persistence and not giving in to “the man”!!
another site? let me know what it is in another e-mail. I have no way to view penguins games where i live, its not offered on Comcast, and Gamecenter blacks out every game to my area.
and also, it is partially this sites fault atdhe.net got screwed out of its NHL content. It was doing well flying under the radar until sites like this started posting in big flashy letters listed in meta searches for FREE NHL STREAMS. regardless, a sad week for all hockey fans.
Hey jon, I hear ya dude, same thing for me but for the hawks. I would pay the premium to watch it but its blacked out in southern indiana. Lets get another site immediately and spread it around the blog, not banner ads. anyone have any ideas yet?
No idea what the whole ATDHE situation is, but there’s no way in hell I’m paying for streams/broadcasts. If a Wings fan in Detroit can go to a bar around the block and essentially watch Wings games for free, why can’t I?
Yeah, it is your fault. Don’t try and deny it. You claimed those streams as yours. You know you did. Just admit you were greedy, or if not that, admit you are just plain ignorant. You don’t have any street smarts. Things like this are meant to stay underground for a reason, not shot to the top of google by your fucking ass. fuck you pal.
is the games working still ??
can i still watch it live!!
Ok this is not this sites fault, tons of sites from all over the web linked into atdhe, it was too good to be true and it burst, whats more important is finding a solution so we can watch the games again. It seems every option for streams has been taken away, so whats the latest site?
Why would I give you guys a new fucking site? So this prick can just claim it as his again? Fuck it, he ruined it for everyone.
Seriously, this is the Internet, it wasn’t going to last in the first place, just be happy you had “illegal” streaming hockey for the amount of time you did.
You guys are supposedly hockey fans, act like it. This is just a bunch of crying broads, bitching and whining. Seriously, end this episode of the Vagina Monologues and go back to pretending to be fans of the game, instead of acting like a bunch of prisses who feel they are actually owed anything by motherpucker.
Losing the ability to stream the games doesn’t affect my opinion of the site and the game the least bit.
I would pay the NHL to be able to watch online streams, but considering they black-out my local team I don’t see the point. We live in an age where one can watch most of their TV shows online on-demand whenever they want. We have services like Hulu.com. But the sports leagues are mostly behind the times. They say you can watch 40 games a week. So what? I want to watch 3 or 4 a week for my local team and I can’t. So ultimately they do not offer a product that meets my needs.
I suspect they are partially hostage to the networks that provide their content such as Fox Sports Net or TNT (in the case of the NBA). I suspect one of the reasons that football is the most popular sport in America by far is because its games are available via basic local television networks affiliated with NBC, Fox, or CBS. In other words one doesn’t have to shell out $50 bucks a month if they are sports fan to buy a cable package with a bunch of junk they don’t want just so they can watch a few games via Fox Sports Net or Vs. or whatever. Some may say its only $50 a month, who cares. The point is its not a good deal. Even a millionaire NHL team owner may balk at the idea of going to an all you can eat $50 buffet just to eat some crackers from the salad bar.
What they need to do is offer a Sports Hulo.com model where they can capture the advertising revenue and which would greatly reduce piracy. They could also offer an option where people can pay for each game they want to watch without no blackout restriction. The psychology on that one is basic. Its a lot easier to part people from their money when the cost is smaller. They want people to sign up for their Gamecenter package at the beginning of the season for a couple hundred. This appeals to only the most hard core of fans and is prohibitive to newer or more casual fans who can also provide profits. Try selling individual games (no blackout) at 99 cents or something like that. I’m thinking they would make a lot more money.
As far as this most recent move. I’ve just decided except for the few local broadcasts that I can’t really follow my local hockey team. As such my enthusiasm for the sport will probably follow and thus my willingness to shell out a hundred bucks or so to go see a live game every once in awhile.
yeah, but putting it on a website and having it easily findable by google is the equivalent of smoking dope in front of the police station. what is the nhl supposed to do in that case?
anyone how thinks this guy here can have the might NHL pull anything… your a flat retard.
I worked at a major sports league and they (and the NHL) have 100′s if not 1,000′s of suspects they go after… if puck was grabbed this week, 150 others are getting letters next week. It never ends.
Please… know what your talking about before you comment… your embarrassing yourself…
Father Pucker… you seem to be the LEAST educated on this topic and how leagues shut down sites.
So…
where can I watch the games now?
GameCenter is too expensive. I’d pay $9.99, not $19.99.
To the NHL:
I would honestly by NHL center ice and have in fact attempted to do so only to find that my favorite team is blacked out and that I would basically only be able to watch during the nationally televised occasions. Stop the blackout and I will watch…continue the blackout and you have lost many fans to sell your lousy quality feed to and less viewers to sell to advertisers.
anyone got a site?
for my part I would never have discovered nhl streaming with that kind of quality of image if it was not fot motherpucker.ca ( i first heard of atdhe.net because motherpucker provided the link). I just regret the nhl policy toward streaming. If anybody know any other site please tell.
If you were all true hockey fans, you would all find a way to watch the games, REGARDLESS of anything, including price. Your favorite sport in the world is not worth $79 – including the race to the playoffs and first couple rounds of the playoffs???? The sport that you have a passion for??? Hockey isn’t important enough to dish out a little cash? You can’t save $79 (payable in monthly installments to boot) anywhere else in your budget? If you are one of the fools who, since atdhe has been shut down, has gone around placing blame and complaining, then shame. Hockey is only good enough for you when its free? You are not a true hockey fan. Never call yourself one again.
I found out about atdhe.net from chat rooms at NHL Gamecenter. This was the best idea to keep interest in hockey. Typical Bettman BS to have it shut down. I subscribe to Center Ice on DirecTV but do not get internet feeds like I do with NFL Sunday ticket. I refuse to pay twice for the same content. I’m sure other sites will pop up and shut down. Patience and we will have some new sites. They can’t keep it down forever.
I would pay for the nhl premium, its not about the money. The problem is my favorite team is rediculously blacked out 300 miles from the city. I cant watch online or pay for it or watch it on tv bc the channels arent available. Great job NHL for building the fanbase. I’m trying to love hockey and support my team but all my options are exhausted. This league is run worse than american banks
Funny, the streams started showing up again on March 3rd, and there haven’t been any more bashing comments since then… funny how the internet works where everyone wants to throw the blame around, but when they realize that they sent it in the wrong direction they won’t man up and apologize.
Dude it was never your fault in the first place, why care what a bunch of morons think? all the streams arent back but there are a few here and there
Try spreading the word privately (ie MSN, yahoo msger or Google) that’s how i found out or i used my brain and joined a private forum
Honestly, this sucked for a while, but I managed to find other sites.
It really is no one’s fault ….ppl want hockey online as they cannot always enjoy the benefits they get in North America…Im in Asia!
Apparently, no cursing and crap and important…find links but do not post them…
