NHL Standings According to NHL10

I ran a simulation like this last season, and it was pretty interesting to see how the teams ranked, and who won the Stanley Cup. So now for this season… (based on the game’s initial rosters)

The season simulation saw the Rangers take the Presidents Trophy with 116 points. The Eastern Conference ranked as follows: 1. Rangers 2. Thrashers (wtf eh?) 3. Senators 4. Penguins 5. Lightning 6. Sabres 7. Devils 8. Canadiens. The West ranked 1. Blackhawks 2. Sharks 3. Canucks 4. Coyotes (western conference’s wtf eh?) 5. Blue Jackets 6. Flames 7. Stars 8. Kings.

So lets run through the playoffs and see what happens…

Apparently this year’s cup final will be the Dallas Stars vs. Ottawa Senators. (Hint, don’t put money down on this one.) The stars had to run over the Sharks, Blackhawks, and Canucks to make it out of the West, and the Senators had to deal with the Sabres, Thrashers, and Rangers in the East. The final was over pretty quickly with the Stars taking it in 5 games.

Now for a complete trophy listing:

Stanley Cup: Dallas Stars
Presidents Trophy: NY Rangers
Clarence Campbell Bowl: Dallas Stars
Prince of Wales Trophy: Ottawa Senators
Art Ross Trophy: Marian Gaborik
Hart Memorial Trophy: Niklas Backstrom
James Norris Memorial Trophy: Brian Campbell
Lady Byng Memorial Trophy: Alexander Ovechkin
Calder Memorial Trophy: Jeff Deslauriers
Conn Smythe Trophy: Marty Turco
Vezina Trophy: Niklas Backstrom
William M. Jennings Trophy: Roberto Luongo
Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy: Milan Michalek
Frank J. Selke Trophy: Vyacheslav Kozlov
Lester B. Pearson Award: Ilya Kovalchuk
Maurice Richard Trophy: Ilya Kovalchuk

How does that grab you? Doesn’t look like the worst simulated list ever, but I’m willing to put down about $42,000,000 that Deslauriers doesn’t win the Calder this year. Anyone else willing to make a ridiculous bet based on this list? Or even based on the standings or playoff results? Let’s hear it!
