NHL GameCenter Free Preview

Posted by Mother Pucker on October 24th, 2008

In speaking with Michael DiLorenzo, NHL Director of Corporate Communications, I’ve learned that there will be another free preview of NHL GameCenter on October 30, 2008. When I asked why they chose that date, Michael’s response was, “My latest information on GameCenter is that there will be a free trial on oct 30 which is a thurs when 24 teams are playing.” Here is a list of the teams that are playing that day, and the channels that they will be broadcast on (for full listings for the month of October, be sure to check out our October NHL TV listings):

  • Lightning/Sabres @ 7:00 PM ET on SUN, MSG-B (HD)
  • Thrashers/Rangers @ 7:00 PM ET on SPSO, MSG (HD)
  • Islanders/Flyers @ 7:00 PM ET on MSG PLUS (HD), CSN-PH (HD)
  • Senators/Panthers @ 7:30 PM ET on FSN-F
  • Oilers/Predators @ 8:00 PM ET on PPV, FSN-S
  • Canadiens/Wild @ 8:00 PM ET on RDS (HD), KSTC
  • Hurricanes/Blues @ 8:30 PM ET on FSN-S, FSN-MW
  • Blue Jackets/Avalanche @ 9:00 PM ET on FSN-O, ALT (HD)
  • Bruins/Flames @ 9:00 PM ET on NESN (HD), SNET-W
  • Penguins/Coyotes @ 10:00 PM ET on FSN-P, FSN-A (HD)
  • Canucks/Kings @ 10:30 PM ET on PPV, FSN-W
  • Red Wings/Sharks @ 10:30 PM ET on FSN-D, CSN-BA (HD)

If you are one of the six teams that aren’t playing that day, its kind of crappy, but none the less, GameCenter appears to be targeted at people watching out of market games, so this may be a good chance for you to catch up on your second favorite team around the league. If I had to pick a game or two to pay attention to in that (not so rival filled) list, I’d have to go with the Red Wings / Sharks, and Islanders / Flyers. The Wings/Sharks match up is a heavyweight bout, while the Islanders/Flyers is definitely going to be a dirty little battle.

I’ve yet to sign up for NHL GameCenter as I missed the first free preview weekend (was busy watching the free NHL Center Ice preview), but I’ll definately be tuning in to this one to see if its worthwhile for me. Have any of the readers signed up? What do you think of it so far? Any gripes? Any praise? Anything you’d change? Let’s hear it!
