Mother Pucker Hockey’s Birthday

This time last year I was sitting there, reading some of my favourite hockey websites, and thought “Hey, I can do that! Not necessarily good, but I can do it!”

So here we are exactly one year later, and I’m going to declare September 3 as Mother Pucker’s birthday, and why not even declare it a national holiday. Yes, those of you that are work right now, pack up your shit, turn off your computer, pass Dwight an Altoid if he sits near you, and get the hell out of there. If you need a sick note or something for your boss just forward this post to them and I’m sure they’ll understand.

So what better way to celebrate the sites birthday with a recap of my favourite posts over the past year? Sounds like a plan, so here it is in chronological order:

1. The Dog Days of Summer – What better way to start off than with a picture of Scarlet Johansen. Yeah she has nothing to do with hockey, but whatever it was the dog days of summer and I couldn’t figure out what to write first.

2. Vancouver Canucks and Luongo Break the Rules – Probably not the most exciting story (it sure ran out of gas quickly), but I still laugh when I see that jersey modification that I did. Too bad they didn’t slap the C(rap) on Luongo’s jersey.

3. Heroin Beer Served in NHL Arenas – When I was in Calgary last week for the Team Canada Red vs. White game I sampled a few of their $7.25 beers, and while there is a glimmer of heroin in there, it still doesn’t compare to what they have in Edmonton.

4. NHL GameCenter Review – I actually subscribed to this towards the end of the regular season, but have since cancelled. If they didn’t have the blackouts I would probably cancel my cable and just go with this though.

5. The True NHL Standings – Did a comparison between overtime loss freebie points and no points for an OT/Shootout loss. Looked at this later in the year as well, and found out that they don’t make a difference.

6. Blackhawks Fan Wins a Million Dollars – I still can’t believe that this actually happened.

7. NHL Cease and Desist Order – I was pretty excited when I started linking to free streaming NHL hockey games, but then that all got torn down when the NHL sent me this letter. People then started suggesting that it was my fault.

8. The Kostitsyn Criminals – Remember when this one broke? I knew it was going to be a bunk story, and sure enough that’s how it came out.

9. Alexander Ovechkin’s Commercial – At Eastern Motors… Your job your credit!

10. Step by Step Guide to Sports Betting – I made a shitload of cash last year betting on the NHL, so figured I’d share some tips with you.

11. Mirtle Wants Two Teams in Toronto – I still think that this is center of the universe mentality.

12. Japan – Ended up in Japan for almost the entire month of May… explanation for complete lack of updates.

13. Stanley Cup Champions – Congratulations to the Pens for winning it all this year.

14. NHL Schedule for iCal, Outlook, and Google Calendar – I love it, and so do many of the readers.

15. Pierre McGuire Punch-Out – I managed to catch up with McGuire and asked him flat out about this incident. His response? “Thats retarded!”
