Minnesota Wild’s New Mascot Nordy

The Minnesota Tame, er… Wild, have decided to add a paid fan to their attendance. On Sunday the Wild announced that their newest addition is a mascot called Nordy, who strangely enough has his own player page on nhl.com. Ok it makes sense that they do a press release, and take the obligatory pictures with the local kids at hockey schools, but to give him his own player page? Come on… if any non-player deserves his own player page at nhl.com its Joey Moss.

“Holding true to his Nordic heritage, Nordy is rugged yet huggable and loves to visit with kids.” Rugged? Come on… Sonic the Hedgehog is more rugged than Nordy.

“He now resides at Xcel Energy Center and calls the Capital City home.” & “Fans will see Nordy at community appearances, hospital visits and kids activities, and occasionally at Wild home games.” Wait a minute! He lives there, but can only make an occasional appearance? Where is your dedication to the team that pays you to wear their colors and hug all of those hot hockey moms? Nevermind… I guess since he lives there, he will probably be doing his hugging in his private den.
