Battle Of The Blades Finale

Battle of the Blades

This weekend is going to mark the finale of CBC’s most popular show ever. Yes, even more so than the Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada every weekend ;)

For those of you that haven’t been following along, eight pairs of female figure skaters and male hockey players were teamed up, and have been performing each Sunday, with elimination rounds the following Monday night. Going into the final weekend we have Lemieux and Bourne, Richer and Dubreuil, and Simpson and Sale as the remaining three. There were only supposed to be two teams, but Dubreuil injured her back last week and was unable to skate. I figured that meant the end for her and Richer, but the other teams voted to keep them around for the finale, so now we have three!

So far eliminated teams are Anderson and Brasseur, Daneyko and Higgins, Domi and Hough-Sweeney, Probert and Lenko, and Duguay and Underhill. Domi and Tuffy were crowd favourites from the beginning largely due to Domi being an ex Leaf, and that absolutely stunning body on Tuffy. They got the toss a few weeks ago so now we’re left with the final three.

Katarina Witt

First up, Claude Lemieux and Shae-Lynn Bourne. I always thought that Lemieux was a douche so figured there would be no way that I’d be cheering for him in this competition, but things have changed, largely in part to me falling in love with his partner Shae-Lynn Bourne. For some reason she didn’t catch my eye at the start of the show, but now I’m obsessed! Anyway, regardless of what I think of her, these two have some great chemistry and have put on some dynamite performances so far. During the second round judging, Katarina Witt basically put it all out there and offered those two a threesome. WHAT? I just about fell off the couch when I heard that! CAN YOU IMAGINE!

Next we have Stephane Richer and Marie-France Dubreuil. These two have connected like no other team has, and you kind of expect them to head straight backstage after a performance to get down and dirty. I think even Katarina Witt recognized the “I wanna bang you!” looks they they were giving each other, and she wanted to take part in it. Last week in the first round she told Richer that she wishes she could have been a pairs skater so she could have been with someone like him, and carried through life with someone like him. I always figured that she was a minx, and last weeks show just proved it. My final wish would have been granted had she thrown on the skates in that outfit she judged in, but unfortunately that was not to be ;)

Third we have Craig Simpson and Jamie Sale. These two seem to be the television audience’s faves as they continue to rack up the votes and have continuous twitter chatter, but this week they were picked on by the judges for not being as technical or smooth as the other pairs, but whatever they are fun to watch, and their Austin Powers number was probably the most entertaining of the of the whole show.

Now do I dare venture a guess as to who is going to win next week? I know that this is going to piss some people off right away, but I have to eliminate Simpson and Sale. They are a great pair, but the other two are just so much better. With the remaining two, I’d like to say it’s as easy as a coin toss but I don’t think that it’ll be that easy… If Richer and Dubreuil put on another sex fueled performance they definitely have a shot at winning this thing. On the other hand, Bourne is such a strong skater and could probably even make me look good out there, so I’m going to lean towards her and Lemieux to take it all.
