2009 Stanley Cup Finals
Tweet Posted by Mother Pucker on May 30th, 2009I didn’t really get to see much of the second round, and none of the third round due to being away, but now I’m back just in time for the Stanley Cup final.
At the start of the playoffs I didn’t think that there would be any hope of a repeat of last years cup finalists, but for the first time since something like 1983/1984 when the Oilers and Islanders met back to back, we have back to back repeaters.
Anyway, I have to declare that I’m not that thrilled with this final. I would have prefered to see a Capitals / Hawks series or something like that, but instead we get to watch the same two teams battle it out again. Anything exciting to come from this? Of course there will be, but still I’d like to see some different teams go at it.
Any predictions? Anyone think that the Hossa thing will be a big deal? Will Osgood continue his high calibre play? Like I said, I’ve missed a major chunk of the playoffs, so I’m going into this series blind. Let me know!

Simply put, Red Wings in 6.
The Penguins made it back, but they have Carolina to thank for that. They demolished 2 teams that would have picked Pittsburgh apart.
The Red Wings come back, stronger than last year. Penguins come back, not so stronger.
Its the same hype, (Crosby and Malkin are Gretzky and Messier!) as last year. Just like last year, Crosby will be held even more so now that he doesn’t have Hossa flanking him and drawing attention. Malkin will be non-exsistent, again.
Wings in 6.
