Download NHL Stanley Cup Hockey
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you’re all having a wonderful day with your family and friends.
It was unrealistic for me to go around to all of your houses and drop off hockey related presents, so why not give you this online freebie instead?
If you were a fan of the classic NHL Stanley Cup Hockey game for the SNES, way back in 1993, then you’re in luck because it’s now available as a free download at Brothersoft. The download is PC compatible, but I have a mac so can’t take a shot at it. Let me know how it is and if it brings back any memories of you in your unfinished basement playing on a tv with only 13 channels.
Score Mobile iPhone App
Ok before I go too far I think there might be a Score Mobile app for the blackberry too as I’ve seen a guy at the hockey game beside me checking scores on his perl… or maybe it’s just a web version? Anyway, have some good news.
This app is pretty kick ass to say that least, and today after contacting The Score I learned thta they will be launching a new section sometime this week that will be covering the World Junior Hockey Championship.
Thanks for providing a kick ass app, and bringing in the sports and events that are important to us!
On the iPhone head over to the app store, and blackberry do whatever you blackberry people do to get apps. Enjoy!
Flames: Twas the game before Xmas
Found this over at a Calgary Flames Forum and figured some of you may enjoy it:
Twas the game before Christmas, when all through the Dome
Not a player was resting, not even Jarome.
The skates were all hung by player stalls with care,
In hopes that Lord Stanley soon would be there.
The fans were nestled all dressed up in reds,
While visions from heroin beer danced in their heads.
Tara McCool in her ‘kerchief, and I with a drink,
Had just settled in to watch the Blues sink. Read more
Congrats Fatso!
Well congrats to Martin Brodeur for breaking Terry Sawchuck’s all time shutout record of 103 last night by notching his 104th shutout against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Seen on the left is Brodeur celebrating on the New Jersey shore… just kidding, saw that on twitter and couldn’t resist using it
Carrie Underwood is Engaged
So what you say? Well you should care because Carrie Underwood is going to be getting hitched to Ottawa Senators star Mike Fisher. I guess Fisher popped the question on Sunday while with his family…
When these two hooked up it was like someone stepped on my heart because Carrie is in my top 3 favourites right now, and the thought of her with a hockey player just crushed me.
But then I thought about this a little more, and by that I mean as I type I’m thinking this stuff up.
She obviously likes hockey dudes, so I say that I still have a chance. Yes, she was with Tony Romo before, but I say that even the best features of Romo and Fisher combined still don’t even come close to matching the looks and qualities I bring to the table. And ps, I play hockey too.
Carrie, I’ll gladly be Fisher’s sloppy seconds when you’re done with him!
Worst Jersey Foul Ever?
I may have been lucky enough to see the worst jersey foul ever last night at the Capitals/Oilers game at Rexall. I wasn’t too surprised how many Ovechkin jerseys were in the crowd, but this guy that sat two seats to my left took the cake for the most ridiculous.
Anyone recognize that jersey? Yes you’re right, it’s the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos. With Ovechkin’s name and number on it? This is so wrong on so many levels. Wrong city, wrong colors, wrong sport, wrong country, you name it. I tried to get a shot of this wonder(?) but the guy threw his jacket on and started hiding it after he was being heckled by the people wearing real Caps jerseys. How’s my artwork?
Anyway, what do you think? Is this the worst ever? If not ever, I have to say that it definitely ranks up there with the best (worst) of them!
Free Dallas Stars Snuggie!

Isn’t the Snuggie supposed to be the laughing stock of pretty much everything? Well regardless, the Dallas Stars have decided to give away this elusive item to die hard fans that buy tickets to the league’s three biggest draws…
But come on seriously? How many people in Dallas need to be sitting there on their couch with a snuggie on? If the flames started doing something like this it wouldn’t be as hilarious, but come on Dallas. Give away Stars’ branded oscillating fans or something instead! haha
Anyway, here is a sweet video of the Snuggie in action. They keep talking 3 some, and I know they’re referring to the three game pack, but I can’t help thinking about me in between those two foxes inside that snuggie:
Welcoming Google to 2002
Well I just have to welcome Google and it’s newfound love for QR Codes to 2002, I mean 2009. Yeah this thing was prevalent from around 2002 back when I lived in Japan, and I guess it’s finally going to take off over here. What is it? It’s a funky image that your mobile phone can read and decode to give you all sorts of information. What’s the one on the left? Give it a try with your favourite QR reader (like QuickMark on the iPhone) and you’ll see it’s a link to this website. My only complaint? That I ordered my latest batch of motherpucker business cards before I read this news. Would have been a nice addition!
Your Name in the Hockey Hall of Fame

Ever wanted your name in the Hockey Hall of Fame but knew that you were nowhere near good enough at hockey? Well this has to be the EASIEST way that you’re going to get there!
A few months ago Pepsi started a contest to figure out what Canada’s cheer was going to be, and it was voted on that the “Eh-Oh-Canada-Go!” cheer was the best… I’ll have to see it in action to make up my mind on that one.
Anyway, that’s not important right now. The important thing is getting your name in the HHOF! I don’t know if this is open to Canadiens only (as I quickly hammered my name in there to avoid being beat out by some other douchebag), so try it out and let me know. Only the first million will enter the hall, so get on it!!!
Alexander Ovechkin Knee Suspension

Here I come…

WHAM!
Ok, word came down this afternoon that Alexander Ovechkin has been suspended for two games for this knee on knee hit. Since the news has come down the whole hockey universe has been talking about it by either saying “2 isn’t enough!” or “superstars shouldn’t be suspended!” to “he is soooooo dirty!!!” bla bla bla
Anyone want my take on it? Yeah I know I’m pretty much talking to myself here so the answer is undoubtedly a resounding no, but whatever you’re going to hear it anyway.
I think that this hit was fine, and shit happens.
Surprised? I really don’t care because that’s just my take on it
K seriously though once you watch the video, you can see where I’m coming from. The side view looks like a total knee, but if you see the angle from the other end of the rink you’ll see that Ovechkin was going straight at him till the other player made a left turn. Ovechkin being the player he is wanted to finish his hit, so he also started to turn. Anyone that’s thrown a hockey check knows that if you try and float around like this:
(not picking on you Mark, just showing how someone would take a turn with their skates together) – YOU’RE GOING TO GET DEMOLISHED. So in turn you spread your legs and try and keep the best balance you can. I don’t mean spreading them like your slutty friend that is going for 50 kills before her 25th birthday, but you know, enough to hold some serious balance, because after all, that’s an essential part of a successful check. You ever see a player drive hard to the net from the side? They gliding in feet together? NO, they are in the exact same position that Ovi was in when this hit took place.
Anyway, here is the youtube clip so you can make up your own mind on this one. I Just wanted to get it out there that I don’t see this as being a problem. No it’s not because Ovi is a stud player, or because I don’t think superstars should feel the suspension wrath, just because shit happens.
