CBC’s Fat Ugly Girlfriend

Prior to looking at game times for last night’s schedule I saw that the Leafs were playing in Vancouver, and also the Oilers in Calgary. I figured, as is pretty much standard practice, that both of those games would fit into the 10pm EST slot with BC and Ontario east getting the Leafs/Nucks game, and the Prairie Provinces getting the Oilers/Flames.

But whats this? The game in Vancouver is scheduled for 7pm EST (yeah, thats 4pm in Vancouver) so that both the CBC and Leafs can continue their disgusting relationship?

The poor Canadiens must be as disgusted as anyone when it comes to this fat chick romance on Canadian TV. They played an awesome game against the Rangers last night, but where was that game televised? Quebec only?! What a joke.

Yes I understand that CBC likes to show the all Canadian match-ups, but it’s time to start showing quality instead. Yes, Vancouver is worthy of HNIC, but the Leafs are anything but TV worthy right now except for me and everyone else to laugh at as they continue to lose.

Time to end the weekly make-out session between CBC and the Leafs, and start showing meaningful hockey. You say you don’t care now? Just wait until March or even February when the leafs have been eliminated from contention and CBC still shows them instead of the teams in the hunt. Enough already!

No Games Garbage

sad kidOk what the hell? This is the second Sunday this month that there haven’t been any hockey games. Is there some sort of international holiday today that I’m unaware of? Or does the NHL have some sort of stat that shows they can’t compete with the NFL on Sundays?

With all the talk of this compressed schedule due to the Olympics, you’d think that they would try and take advantage of every day they had available to them. The first time there were no games was as a result of all 15 teams playing the night before, but with back to back games it wouldn’t have been a stretch to have some of them still play the next day. How about yesterday? Not all the teams played, so we could have seen some hockey today.

This sucks. And is stupid. Yes, this was a juvenile rant, but who’s not with me?

eBay’s NHL Standings

Ever wonder what the NHL standings would be according to eBay? Me neither. But anyway there is a market research company out in BC that decided to rank the NHL teams based on their eBay sales, also including average ticket and jersey prices over the last 30 days.

Anyone see any surprises? Does this make you want to rush over to eBay and start buying stuff? I’m not really sure why they created it, but if it’s to try and get people over to eBay and make some sort of commission off of you, then so be it. I just figured it was an interesting ranking system.

Calgary Flames Choke

Dear Calgary,

Still haven’t figured out Chicago, eh? Or maybe even yourselves? Yes, you were in the lead in the western conference, but  you were never really in control of a game, and pretty much had no right to try and mail it in after taking a 5-0 lead over the Blackhawks last night.

Has there been a more embarrassing loss so far this year in the NHL? Nope. Will there be one worse than this? I doubt it.

When you take a 5-0 lead in the first period, and then end up losing the game 6-5, you should be completely ashamed of yourselves.

To the rest of the Western Conference, keep this one in mind for when you meet the Flames in the first round of the playoffs. They may just be the team to take over from the San Jose Sharks.

Signed,

Mother Pucker
